Since NITAAC was founded in 1996 as part of the NIH, our organization has supported the contracts that support health personnel, hospitals and clinics and the information systems it takes to run them. Through Task Area 1, all of our Contract Holders are required to have a past performance in Health Information Technology (HIT). This requirement works to the benefit of DHA as in January of 2023, the Department of Defense issued a mandate to first award to small businesses. CIO-SP3 Small Business and CIO-CS offers a pool of over 300 contract holders in the five socioeconomic categories of 1. Small Business (SB), 2. Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB), 3. Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone), 4. Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), and 5. 8(a) organizations.
