Event overview:
Cyber-attacks at nuclear power plants don't just happen in Hollywood. That's because places with radioactive materials make incredibly tempting cyber targets.
With this real and ever-present threat, the Information Security Directorate of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) works diligently daily to provide technological protection for our nation's people and environment. Part of their comprehensive approach is to convene semiannually for a 1-day NRC Cybersecurity Seminar & Expo with government and industry sessions that focus on what's new and what's next in cyber.
Hosted by the Office of the Chief Information Officer, this virtual event attracts their IT and cyber personnel, as well as their contractors. Internally, NRC promotes the event as "HACK," which stands for "Helpful Applied Cyber Knowledge." Their well-received campaign encourages all NRC technology users to be aware of the impact of their activities on connected devices (both at home and in the workplace) and the threats they may potentially and unknowingly generate.
